Faux Pyramaged Trees

Hi guys!  The past few weeks I have been using the Winter Trees stamp set for my samples.  I haven't had a play with this set before, but what fun, don't you think!  I made a quick faux pyramage card here and it only took very little time.  I started with a piece of white card and I cut out a mask for my moon and placed it down with some removable adhesive.  Using Chipped Sapphire Distress ink, I inked the background sky area.  I wanted it to be rather intense and then fade out towards the background, but as I was doing this I decided to not do the entire background.  I ended up with a circular sort of look to it and I rather liked it. I removed the mask and stamped the trees and sentiment with jet black archival ink.  I lined up four alternating sizes of Grand  Labels Eleven, centring them over the scene and taped them into place.  I cut them and then removed them and added 3D foam pieces to the back of each ring, progressively adding another layer of it to each ring inward.  The result is a card that looks like it has been properly pyramaged.  I have included a pic shown from a side angle and you can see the layers in it.  I cut a Grand Labels 23 as a background in white then used that die to draw around the edge and make a faux nestie in dark blue to mat it with and complete the card.  This is a really fun and easy card to make if you get the chance.  All for now, Sue x

  3. Morning, sue
I agree with Heather; when I saw this card I only got a quick look at it then the presenter whisked it away. So I am delighted to see it. C&C web shopping melted and it has messed up my orders but I managed to get the what I wanted later then I told them they had messed up my orders and just to send the right ones. Will wait and see. I sent you an email about the big shot question. Other cards that caught my eye ... you did a couple of completed cards very nice too. Looking forward to today. x

This is very lovely Sue, We went to one of CE workshops on Saturday and made a similar card, using distress inks and the winter trees stamps, I was amazed that you could acheive such a beautiful card using inks, just waiting for the stamp set to arrive along with our order, Well done on the show yesterday, Helen O xxx

  35. This is another simple and elegant card Sue - and it looks real complicated too. Those trees look great, but its also that faux nestie round the edge that sets it off and just completes it. NOt sure I will get to see your last show today, good luck

  59. Hi Sue and congratulations on a successful run of shows with the Spellbinders 'One Time Only'. I have just finished watching your show with Ellis and I love the idea of auctioning off your cards for charity. That's such a generous idea and I am certain that among your followers and friends you will find eager bidders.
You must have put so much hard work into all the beautiful samples you made. I know you'll say its your job, but to do so much while away also is going way beyond. Thank you so much.
As to todays card, I think it is very distinctive and so atmospheric. May I ask, did you walk away from it thinking you had forgotten something, or did you actually manage to leave off the bow without any internal fighting? lol..
    Regards Linda

  66. Hi Sue, I love this card and the best thing is I'll be able to try it as I've got those dies coming! Hadn't managed to get any Grand dies since buying the Grand Caliber so when I spotted the words grand dies multibuy (but with no picture or details) on the website they went straight into my basket. I was thrilled to see what nice ones they are when they appeared later in the show. I've had such a lovely time watching all the shows and the demo's and cards were amazing. Thank you so much Sue. Hope you get a chance to rest now. Sue x
