Hi bloggers! I hope this one isn't too dark for you as I seem to have moved from my green phase into one that is using quite a bit of brown lately. Although this card was made a while ago, I just realised that I hadn't posted it until now. I really like decorative papers that have patterns that are very muted, tone on tone and that is what I picked for this card. I really like the black and brown together, although, I would imagine it isn't every ones cup of tea. I have used the scallop edge and the heart insert edgeabilities for the four horizontal borders on the card. The focal element was created using the heart square and the Samantha Walker Blossom tag die and just stamping my sentiment in the centre. I did a tiny bit of inking around the edge to frame it. You would never guess it's my card with the ginormous bow, huh? LOL I really like the black organza rose in the middle and the decorative stick pins to complete it. Whatcha think? All for now, Sue x

ReplyDeleteNot as keen on the darkness maybe (although don't dislike) but do love the way you have done the bow with the crinkly and vintage ribbon together with the rose on the top. I do think that it all comes together lovely.

This is a card after my own heart! Whilst I love muted pinks etc, I also love browns, especially this time of year. I can see why people are sceptical about black - personally I love the drama of it, but find I have to really tone it down in cards I make for people or sell at craft fairs. Oity. The bow is gorgeous..as always with your cards Sue! Carole xx

I like the dark colours, and brown has always been a favourite of mine - as my husband!! These days I think there are no 'set' colours that one must use in card making - anything is acceptable - as long as they work well together - and yours always do Sue. Thanks again.

You make the most wonderful cards I've ever seen. This one is so elegant. You always pick just the right colours to go together. Beautiful card Sue. - Joyce
ReplyDeleteThis is yet another stunning elegant card. The edgeabilities really complement the nestie, and I love the way that organza ribbon subtly alters the black bow, lifting it so that it isnt sombre or dark. I have just been trying to analyse the way you have used the borders so the ones at the top & bottom are just the width of that layer, and the middle ones are the width of the card. Its really intriguing, cos as well as that, it looks like you have just wrapped ribbon around to make the vertical stripes, yet the whole design works without it looking cluttered!
ReplyDeleteLove the black and brown - my cards are going through that phase! - very stylish
ReplyDeleteSue I do need to get my daily fix and this is another stunner. Is there any colour combos you can't get to work?
