As promised, here is a pic of the card that I made using the smooshed (spelling?) flower technique. I really like the way it came out. It has a very romantic, watercolour feel to it. If you weren't able to see the show on Thursday, I put a fresh flower and stem through my Wizard machine and this is what it produced. There is quite a bit of fluid that comes out from this technique so you want to be careful about what types of flowers you use for this. Nothing too succulent for this and also nothing too thick as it could conceivably get stuck in your machine. Have a few pieces of kitchen roll at hand to wipe down the machine and the mats when you are finished also. I hope you give it a go and let me know how you get on with it.
We are doing really well on our contest, almost half way there. Don't forget that you get extra entries for letting me know that you have been by the blog by leaving a comment. All for now, Sue x
Hi Sue, I'm going to attempt this with some Lavendar, hopefully if it works the paper should smell nice too. Just waiting for my plant to dry to cut some,we've had a bit of drizzle here in Cornwall.
ReplyDeleteTake care Kath

ReplyDeleteThis looks beautiful, I will have to try this technique!

Lovely card - another great technique to try out - when I eventually have some time to sit and play!! Thanks. Cxx
ReplyDeleteHI Sue saw you do this flower techneque and it is was awesome. You keep coming up with the greatest ideas. I't one I really want to try. I want to try it with a Clematis but, not sure wether it will work. xChrisB
ReplyDeleteYour card is beautiful Sue, I have played using Alstermiria, Sweet Peas & French Marigolds but they don't look good.
ReplyDeleteAll I got with the French Marigolds was a complete mess, my Sweet Pea does look ok, a failure to with Alstermiria too.
I used my Bug so perhaps that could be the reason.
Loved your show and also the latest stamps, hope you have them soon in your online shop

Love the smooshhhhhhhhhhhhh. Wonderful idea Bee
ReplyDeleteloved this idea, but haven't got it to work yet............pinks came out as slush, so will look for something else - used my old red sizzix, and had to put a lot of extra card in to get it to work in the first place. Friend has a wizard, so may try and borrow that!
ReplyDeletei love the gold accent
ReplyDeleteReally gorgeous. Looks like large daisies are the way to go.
ReplyDeleteI recorded the show ... but only 36 seconds of it!!!! I cannot believe of all the times to get an error it had to be your show ... will there be a repeat????
ReplyDeleteThat is so pretty...love the gold touch you added! TFS
ReplyDeleteStunning! Must get myself some flowers and try this!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card!
ReplyDeleteMaggi
I missed the show but the 'smooshed flower technique' looks interesting. Now where is my Wizard?
ReplyDeleteLynn x
what a super cool effect, i shall defo be trying this :) thanks for sharing
ReplyDeleteI love the mix of colours and abstract feel of this card. lovely.
ReplyDeleteWow, when I first saw the card picture, I though it must have been and altered photo or an amazing water colour! Never dreamed it was literally real nature!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing! :o)
Is there some way to watch online? Love this card, it's gorgeous! I too thought it was a watercolor technique. Really, really pretty!
ReplyDeleteR/
What a cool idea! I bet it does get messy. Looks really pretty!
ReplyDeleteWOW! I really LOVE the outline of the daisy! Good job! Laci
ReplyDeleteGoing to give this another try...my first attempt was too small....and you know why!!!
ReplyDeletegreat card - love how you finished it off. Remember having fun with this technique some years ago. If you put a paper towel in the sandwich it helps to soak up the more messy plants.

Good morning Sue :0)
ReplyDeleteLove the smooshed flower technique, hubby bought me a bunch of flowers the other day, I thought I best leave it a day or 2 before I sacrifice a bud or 2...I don't want to put him off surprising me with flowers rofl :0)
*hugs* Heather x
What a great idea! It looks really beautiful on the card. But I don't think I have the heart to actually smoosh a beautiful flower on my embossing machine though...LOL!
ReplyDeleteThe show was great - I take notes when you are on - so many new techniques!
ReplyDeleteInteresting technique! Great outcome though. The ideas for the stamps sheets were inspirational as always.
ReplyDeleteLoved this technique - was wondering if you need a certain type of card to get the same effect.
ReplyDeleteElaine
I want to try this however don't have any flowers in the garden at the moment so will have to go for a walk and see what i can find, even if i land up buying a plant or a bouquet of flowers. Also want to second the suggestion made on the show i think you should do a DVD full of your techniques....
ReplyDeleteLiz
Sue it was great to see this technique in action. I've read about it but never tried it. The card is spectacular.
ReplyDeleteEdna x
Fabulous, it looks like something you would buy in a frame, thanks for sharing the techniques.
ReplyDeleteHi Sue < I show your smooshed flower idea and my daughter and I spent a happy half hour picking flowers from the garden and smooshing them - Tried a fuscia that worked well a lovely purple stain, lettuce was okay,Raindaisy was the best left a lovely impression. I haven't got round to actually using the impressions yet but will. Janis
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous technique. Going to have a go at this later.
ReplyDeleteWOW this is amazing. When I was a kid we put flowers between pieces of paper then pounded on it to make the impression but it never ever turned out very nice. This looks like a watercolour painting, its absolutely beautiful! I'm going to give this a try. TFS

Sorry missed your show but this card looks so effective. I like Kath's idea about using Lavendar. Debs xx
ReplyDeleteHi Sue,
ReplyDeleteI walked back in from getting the kids from scouts when I saw your show was on (a repeat). So I quickly rewinded the Skybox and it just started when you were going to do the smooshing demo. I have been watching with my mouth open! What an amazing technique .... I can't wait to get some pretty flowers from my garden and start smooshing :):)
I also second the idea of a technique dvd!!!
heey.. today I found your blog and I just can say WOW.. great work! would love to welcome you on my blog ;)
ReplyDeletexoxo bianca
Cool card!
ReplyDeleteuna tecnica davvero particolare... la tua card è davvero speciale...

ReplyDeleteOkay.......this looks amazing!!! Is there a tutorial or something on how to do this - I LOVE the look!!

Will definitely try this. Your card is stunning. Wendy P
ReplyDeleteLove this technique. I like the fact that you will never ever get it to look the same twice. Thanks for sharing all these fab techniques. Love Julia xx
ReplyDeleteIt was a great show with such a lovely technique - thanks for sharing! Haven't really got any flowers in the garden that I can do it with, but as you can get cut flowers fairly cheaply, I may just treat myself some time :D
ReplyDeleteI don't have a wizard machine but I know some people hammer flowers on to paper! Patsy from
ReplyDeleteHeARTworks
What a lovely card!! I will have to try this technique again as my previous shot at it did not work so well.
ReplyDeleteoh wow! this sounds interesting! I've never heard of a Wizard...i dont know if ive been under a rock or if its new...i will have to google it haha. Great card!!!
ReplyDeleteI saw your show and was so impressed I decided to try the flower pressing technique. I used a gladioli (you're right, there is a lot of juice!). It didn't come out very well and the colours could hardly be seen. Perhaps I will try it again using different flowers. Really like your card though - very sophistocated.
ReplyDeleteIt looks really nice, quite artistic
ReplyDelete//Izadory
Great technique, lovely effect, sort of watercoloury :) xxx
ReplyDeleteThis is so beautiful, I really want to try this technique!
ReplyDeletePRETTY, Sue! and what a cool technique! did you add anything in between the plates to protect the machine? (waxed paper, etc.)
ReplyDeleteSorry I missed the show, but this looks like an amazing technique. Your card is fabulous :)
ReplyDeleteFab card, love it! Hugs, Moni
ReplyDeleteWhat a brilliant idea, although my garden looks half dead now, Daisy good result, fushia good result, petunia not so good, rose petals good result, not full rose though, the dvd idea is a good one, you must do this one, shall we start a facebook campaign for one, only joking, or am I, haha
ReplyDeleteSue
Hi Sue
ReplyDeleteReally liked the "smooshed" technique, will have to see which flowers work best. What have you got in store for us on 27th?
Joan Turner x
A nice card.
ReplyDeleteHeidi
It is such a beautiful card, I was watching and got as far as the shmooshng, then the postman knocked at the door and when I got back it was all over! So I have know idea what too do next! Signed sad from Kent.
ReplyDeleteI really like the golden effect in your card :)
ReplyDeleteArdilla
The colors & the effect they create look awesome! specially the golden part!
ReplyDeleteI love this technique. I had a go with my Bigshot and after some experiments can say that Feverfew is great, Larkspur works well, as do carrot leaves but Ladies Mantle wasn't so good. I'm slowly working my way around the garden, veggy patch too! Thanks for the ideas Sue, keep them coming.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful colors. Stunning work. Hugs, Nataliya

ReplyDeleteHi Sue - I missed the show (busy at the place of work that supplies me with money for my crafting habit!), so was really happy to find it now. Looks amazing - thanks for sharing. Love all your techniques and try to record when the EPG hints that it might be you! You are starting to fill my hard drive as I keep the progs when you, Sheena and Barbara G. are on, so I can refer back to them. 80)
