Smooshed Flower Card

As promised, here is a pic of the card that I made using the smooshed (spelling?) flower technique.  I really like the way it came out.  It has a very romantic, watercolour feel to it.  If you weren't able to see the show on Thursday, I put a fresh flower and stem through my Wizard machine and this is what it produced.  There is quite a bit of fluid that comes out from this technique so you want to be careful about what types of flowers you use for this.  Nothing too succulent for this and also nothing too thick as it could conceivably get stuck in your machine.  Have a few pieces of kitchen roll at hand to wipe down the machine and the mats when you are finished also.  I hope you give it a go and let me know how you get on with it.

    Hi Sue, I'm going to attempt this with some Lavendar, hopefully if it works the paper should smell nice too. Just waiting for my plant to dry to cut some,we've had a bit of drizzle here in Cornwall.

    Your card is beautiful Sue, I have played using Alstermiria, Sweet Peas & French Marigolds but they don't look good.
    All I got with the French Marigolds was a complete mess, my Sweet Pea does look ok, a failure to with Alstermiria too.
    I used my Bug so perhaps that could be the reason.
    Loved your show and also the latest stamps, hope you have them soon in your online shop

    loved this idea, but haven't got it to work yet............pinks came out as slush, so will look for something else - used my old red sizzix, and had to put a lot of extra card in to get it to work in the first place. Friend has a wizard, so may try and borrow that!

    great card - love how you finished it off. Remember having fun with this technique some years ago. If you put a paper towel in the sandwich it helps to soak up the more messy plants.

    I want to try this however don't have any flowers in the garden at the moment so will have to go for a walk and see what i can find, even if i land up buying a plant or a bouquet of flowers. Also want to second the suggestion made on the show i think you should do a DVD full of your techniques....

    Hi Sue < I show your smooshed flower idea and my daughter and I spent a happy half hour picking flowers from the garden and smooshing them - Tried a fuscia that worked well a lovely purple stain, lettuce was okay,Raindaisy was the best left a lovely impression. I haven't got round to actually using the impressions yet but will. Janis

    WOW this is amazing. When I was a kid we put flowers between pieces of paper then pounded on it to make the impression but it never ever turned out very nice. This looks like a watercolour painting, its absolutely beautiful! I'm going to give this a try. TFS

    Hi Sue,

    I walked back in from getting the kids from scouts when I saw your show was on (a repeat). So I quickly rewinded the Skybox and it just started when you were going to do the smooshing demo. I have been watching with my mouth open! What an amazing technique .... I can't wait to get some pretty flowers from my garden and start smooshing :):)

    I also second the idea of a technique dvd!!!

    I saw your show and was so impressed I decided to try the flower pressing technique. I used a gladioli (you're right, there is a lot of juice!). It didn't come out very well and the colours could hardly be seen. Perhaps I will try it again using different flowers. Really like your card though - very sophistocated.

    I love this technique. I had a go with my Bigshot and after some experiments can say that Feverfew is great, Larkspur works well, as do carrot leaves but Ladies Mantle wasn't so good. I'm slowly working my way around the garden, veggy patch too! Thanks for the ideas Sue, keep them coming.
