Just A Note

Hi bloggers!  Today's card offering was started by covering a piece of taupe card with a sticky adhesive sheet.  I cut the Dainty Lace Edger multiple times out of milk card, peeled the backing paper off and arranged them in rows across the card.  I dipped the card into micro beads to fill in the remaining of the background, adding a nice textural look to it.  Next I cut two of the Stacked Diamond Striplets in milk card and backed them with a milk card backing.  I added them to the edges of the card with mounting foam.  Next I used the Toronto die and cut a frame.  I stamped my sentiment and placed the frame over it and added it to the centre of the card.  I stamped the Shaded Peony stamp in Coffee Archival ink and cut them out with the matching Peony die.  I did this with an assortment of sizes to create five different flowers.  I assembled the flowers and seated them across the card, adding Maidenhair fern around them as accents.  I pierced a milk mat, then added a taupe mat and another milk mat to complete the card.  The finished dimensions are 6 3/4" x  8 1/2" in size.  All for now, Sue x

  12. Happy Monday Sue and to all that visit today. I have to agree with all that have mentioned the vintage feel to start our W. O. W (Wonder Of Wilson ) week, I really must start and use my micro beads again I'd forgotten what a difference they can make to a background.
Sat and almost caught up with the remaining shows I recorded last week, and I'm so chuffed you get to do so many demo's plus so many hints and tips to digest, it's brilliant, so different than before when you barely managed to finish 2 cards !
So I will leave you with love and hugs for the day and hope it's a productive one for you.

  17. Hi Sue. I agree with everyone that this card has a lovely vintage look - very classy. Have caught up with your shows as unfortunately I couldn't see them all live and they were amazing. It's wonderful to see you demo without constant interruptions. I really like how Alex sometimes seems to forget that she's presenting as she's engrossed in what you're doing!
Thank you everyone for your good wishes, it certainly was a big weight lifted.

Once again we have an Autumnal start to the day. Fog and damp so I think it will be a stay at home day and just the perfect excuse to start my 'Sue Feast' and do some crafting.

I'm not a fan of micro beads -I'd like to bet that there are very few of us out there who do not like them- but with a substitute of glitter I like today's gift. Particularly as you have made the dies look like debossed ones. I do love your colour palette which just fits the start of Autumn.

Off now for my cup of coffee and a chat to Friends.
To all in pain and suffering today Ihope your day gets better. To everyone please take care and stay safe. See you tomorrow.

  87. Hello Sue & WW :-)
Today's card is quite lovely. I really like the vintage feel of it. Would you say the taupe card is similar to what we call Kraft in U.S.? I never quite trust the colors that come thru on my iPad. They are always pretty, but don't always show thru accurately. I'm very much I hoping I can time it right to see some reruns of your Hochands shows- sounds like I missed a lot of good info! I had some fun crafting time with friends this weekend. Couldn't quite finish my sister's bday card as I seem to have misplaced my delicate Daisy outline dies. I didn't even get started on my husband's card and this will be his 60th bday so I better produce something special! I'm starting to get the equivalent of writer's block :/ I also have to make another male card for my uncle. Oh the pressure! Lol! On a positive note, the Denver Broncos won again last night!!! The game was on right in the midst of the solar eclipse, so I dashed outside during halftime to watch part of it. My priorities may be a little off skew eh? I know I could have recorded the game - but the Bronco games are the only television events I want to see live.the rest I prefer to record so I can fast-forward thru the pesky commercials.
Maureen it sounds as if George is quite handy! Swinging from a rope would be safer than the dreaded obstacle course I enter when going into my craft room! Perhaps I should have Laine's Brodie come train my cats...not to steal my supplies for their own amusement, but to retrieve them on command! Oh wait, since when would any self-respecting cat do anything on someone else's command? Oh well, I better start looking into some sturdy rope instead...
In case I haven't mentioned it in a while, I love this blog! I don't always get to reply to all the things I'd like to (there's so many clever people and comments), but even still, I love reading them all :) And that doesn't even touch on all the fabulous inspiration & tips we get from Sue on a daily basis! So TFS each and everyone :)
Signing off, "Still too hot Rebecca in Colorado" (86 degrees yesterday - would someone tell the powers-that-be that it's a few days away from October?) 86 degrees is not Autumn!
Oh dear me, I almost forgot to congratulate the winners! Forgive me!
I also forgot...I don't know the show "Strictly" some have talked about, but the more comments I read made me realize my perception of proper British ladies should be re-evaluated! Lol! Speaking of shows, Yvonne did I understand you to say Downton was back? I better check my recordings!

Rebecca in Colorado - oh how we would like it to be a little warmer in England but we can't complain at the moment as the sun is shining and it is quite warm! I hope I can help with the colours - our kraft card is similar to the colour of brown paper that we use to wrap up parcels - possibly the same colour as the paper bags you get in supermarkets? ( this is from mu limited knowledge of one trip to Florida where they put our shopping in plastic carrier bags!) . The colour of the taupe is more like a white coffee ( here we go again - flat white???) haha this is fun! I hope this helps! Anyone else think of how to describe the colours and beat the language barrier! ? Yes Downton is back for the final series. The strictly we talk about is Strictly Come Dancing where celebs dance with professionals - do you call it dancing with the stars? I hope that has helped you - isn't it lovely that we are all around the world and yet have craft in common. Enjoy your day xxxx

  103. Hi Sue,
Beautiful colours for a rather elegant card! I got all excited one day last week when I got a package from an on-line shop. It contained the peony stamps and the matching die...unfortunately, in my haste to place the order I picked the peony edge dies instead of the full blossom lol. Thankfully the seller also had the other die set in stock and at a very good price, so I now find I will soon have all three of the set instead of just two. I didn't expect my stash to grow quite that fast but I'm really looking forward to playing with them all. I don't have the other dies you've used for this card but I'm sure I'll be able to work with some of the ones I've already got.
As always, thanks for sharing with us.

  107. Hi Sue, love the taupe and milk card and the maidenhair fern and stamped peonies are beautiful but (you knew that was coming, didn't you) I'm afraid that it is just a bit too busy for me. There I go, in the minority again, but at least I am not completely alone this time.
Another beautiful day here after a very chilly start and I am feeling slightly guilty sitting in my craft room making a birthday card instead of being outside and gardening. I did some yesterday and am hoping to find some more energy after lunch. Little and often is usually my mantra but with our weather you can't always take the chance so I tend to overdo it when the weather is good.
Wishing everyone a happy and sunny week. Thinking of those who have more concerns than a few aching muscles.

Congrats to all the comment winners - forgot yesterday. Enjoy your prize.

  132. Very late today, Sue, an early start coupled with the lunar eclipse (which we watched for an hour-and-a-half - 'we' being me and little Mimi cat, an ex-feral who just wanted to be cuddled in my arms until they went to sleep and she did too!). Had to watch the eclipse as the next one isn't until 2033 and guess won't be around then, so a last chance viewing. Quite something. Then been ultra busy out and about until now.
So - an extremely lovely and unmistakable 'Sue' card, just love the whole design, wonderful colours and a touch of microbeads etc etc, what's not to like?!

  137. Hello Sue, and all the ladies.
Where to start, I love everything about this card, it is stunning.
Rebecca, Diane (I call her Dainty!!) has explained everything perfectly, from the colours to the television programmes. She's a font of knowledge, and lovely with it!
I watched the eclipse as well 'P'.I got up four times between 1.30 and 4.30 to see bits of it as, like you, in 18 years time I don't think I'll be around!! lol It was amazing.
    Love to all,
    Maureen xx

  143. Good evening lovely Sue and her fabulous Wilsonettes,

Well, I can see by some of the comments that today's card isn't quite to everyone's taste but I can only wholeheartedly disagree- I love the vintage, shabby chic look, it's something that I yearn to achieve but never seem to get the balance right. I adore the colours, I've just used the taupe and very pale peach...sounds worse than it looks!..and it is a fabulous shade, very autumnal and perfect for men I feel. I don't find it overly fussy either, vintage is rather a 'cluttered' look by nature and that's just what I love about it, so much for the eyes to appreciate.
I'm vexed that I still don't have the configurations die or the striplet, or even the fern but hey Ho! It another reason to get the credit card out again;-) can I also say that I love the background, fab use of that old fave micro beads, stunning results!
Managed to finish those pesky male birthday cards today...yeah!..did a huge budded peony and sugared it getting diamond snow all over my black work surface and consequently Brodie as a result!...that'll teach me to leave the lid off with a fearsome feline noseying around:-) I mistakenly thought that black surfaces would be the sensible option only to discover that every little speck glares back at you and little paw prints also show up a treat...should have got white I guess!
Rebecca, I'm so so envious of your scorching temperatures, Colorado sounds like heaven, I'd swap in a heartbeat with dull, damp Stirling- autumn has truly arrived with avengance and the heating is on full whack again...tis the season for my Mum to have perpetual hot flushes too, that woman is never cold and she's been going through the change since 1981:-0
Diane was spot on about Strictly, it is called Dancing with Stars in your neck of the woods and I think Len and Bruno judge there too- you have stolen one of our hot dancers too called Artem, he has a very peachy bottom if my memory serves me correctly so if you can tear yourself away from all those muscular quarterbacks it may be worth a look.
Yvonne, you dare to question my integrity and absolute loyalty to our great leader, Sue? I made the executive decision to tape the most important show on tv so that I could pause and rewind the salient points at my leisure and watch my second choice live...a real sacrifice on my part since I do like to pause on the most impressive moves of the male dancers as well but Sue will take priority every time with me! Some of us don't have to curry favour with confectionary to cement our place a no.1 fan/ disciple!
Beth, how are you doing dear friend, hope you haven't done yourself a mischief decorating again...I know that having me visit is akin to having royalty stay but you really don't have redecorate the entire house, just my bedroom suit will suffice:-)
Melody, hope you've managed to get some sleep, you really need to look after yourself too and keep your strength up. Hope Milly is feeling better and that Francis and Molly are bearing up- tell her that we are all thinking of you and really miss herxxxxx
Off to catch up with my soaps, shootings, murder, rape and infidelity...just an average day in a British household then:-)

    Love and crafty hugs

  144. Helloooo Sue and the Wilsonettes! gorgeous card Sue and I love the gorgeous warm colours of Taupe, cream and coffee mix. Love the flowers.....love the striplet too.....I might have mentioned it once...or twice...lol! I don't know Sue, you cram in so much and still jog our memories as to what we have....and not used it for a while or not even used yet! You certainly are amazing! It's been wonderful to watch you on Hochanda, along with John and Julia and seen all the fantastic techniques. I agree with Crafty Sue too, that Alex is always mesmerised when she watches you and it really is wonderful to see. You see, there could be another Wilsonette there in the offing! Congratulations to you Linda on your 30th wedding anniversary. I hope you've had a wonderful day together, although reading between the lines that has been from the day you both first met xx I was married 9 years ago on the 23rd. My husband took a bit longer but all good things come to those who wait! xx Fascinating seeing the blood moon in the early hours and then the eclipse. Wow! Nature sure is beautiful....and free! xx Sending love and hugs to you Sue and your mom and family xx Sending love and hugs to all our Wilsonettes who are in need too xx Love Karen xx

My husband He is just 50 years old as been told he now he as 2 choices 1 is to not have the operation an die within a few months or take the chance of the operation an it be 50/50 chance he will make it through the op to the intensive care unit an about 60/40 against him that he make the next 48 hours.
