Good Sunday morning all! I have switched gears in order to show you a completely different sort of sample which is from the
Cupcake Celebration stamp set by Justrite on today's shows. I had a blast playing with them as they are a bit of the cutesy side so it appealed to me, but they aren't over the top either! The set has several completely different phrases with it including some for new babies, birthdays and special days in general, very well rounded. There is a matching die set with adorable cupcakes and a matching stand. I picked out a pink and cream striped background paper from my stash and used the shaped die from the
Cupcake Stand die set to cut an aperture in the middle. On a piece of
milk card, I stamped the frame from the set and embossed it with
ivory embossing powder for a tone on tone look. I added mounting foam to the back of my striped background and mounted over the stamped frame. Using
milk card again, I cut the cupcake stand die and mounted it in the centre of the frame. I cut a variety of cupcakes using the striped paper, milk card and dusty rose card and mixed and matched them to make six cupcakes for the stand. I put a bit of
Iced Snow on the top of the cupcakes as an embellishment too. I glued them in place then cut a bow to add to the bottom of the stand too (added a tiny pearl to the centre of it). I tied a messy bow out of
chalk seam binding and added it to the corner of my aperture. Using some of the
off white felt from the Blossom felt pack, I made a flower and added it to the centre of the bow with some
Bakers Twine. I stamped the It's A Girl sentiment in two parts using a
Clear Perfect Medium pad and
Ivory embossing powder. I cut them into two flags and added them to the top of the card with a little curl to the edge. I matted the card with milk card and a thin layer of dusty rose. On the milk card layer I added
PVA glue dots using the new Ivory PVA glue from Cosmic Shimmer. To complete the card, I added three small
cream pearls to the upper corner. Finished dimensions are 6 1/2" x 8" in size.

ReplyDeleteThank you for today's gift. A very different style for you but one that has immediately gone into my 'must do' file. In the main I don't do 'cutie' cards but I have an adopted granddaughter who has just had her bedroom done out with the theme of cupcakes so today's style and format will just fit the bill when it's her birthday (she will be six this time round).
Still haven't tried the felt flowers yet - I really must get round to doing this - note to myself.
Will be trying to watch your shows today whilst in the midst of last minute packing the car etc for the off tomorrow morning. This means that for the next couple of days I will not be able to see you. I can already feel withdrawal coming on so roll on Wednesday when we can meet again. This beautiful cute pretty card today really is full of Sunday smiles, I too would never have thought of welcoming a new baby with cupcakes but it really works.
One thing I have never been able to afford to buy is a complete set of stamps and dies that go together, its something Id love to save for as it really does help bring everything together beautifully, as do the felt flowers, so I think I must treat myself to a few pieces of felt soon.

It was my grand daughters birthday yesterday (12 yrs old). And she wanted a recipe book for cupcakes which she received. She would have loved a cake like this. Will be recording your shows as usual. like Lanc Steph I'm glad your not on with DB as she talks right over the demonstrator and never stops to give them a chance to speak. it's as if she's doing the show on her own, and as if she's the main attraction,( which she's not). So glad you found your outfit Cameeli we all said you would find something that was just perfect. And I'm so glad the ladies in the shop were so nice. I had never thought of cupcakes for a baby card as I tend to think of prams, cradles or tiny feet as my focal point, but I think the cupcakes work really well in your lovely card.

Very pretty card today. I love the way you've cut the sentiment into two flags. The problem is that I really don't get the whole cupcakes thing. I can see they are pretty but it's a trend that's been going for ages and I can't see why. That said, I have been told I'm not a proper girlie 'cos I hate shopping and don't buy shoes unless I need them. Maybe I'm missing the girlie gene?

I loved the demo's I was able to watch and wish I could have stayed all day but my dear aunty who is nearly 90 was coming to visit and I don't see her very often so had to get home.

This particular die would fit so many different occasions and the two things - cake and celebration that is - are natural soul mates, at least in this household they are. This card is so pretty. The Justrite set is quite different from anything I've seen before and looks so versatile. I enjoyed your first hour on the Tool Shed (had to record the 2nd hour for later). No doubt everything will have sold out by the time I've made up my mind what I 'need'. You really excelled yourself with the variety of card samples.

Hi Sue, love the card. Unfortunately I didn't get to see the shows today. Got new computer and having lots of trouble with it, am near tempted to see if I could get my old one fixed. Oh how i did enjoy your show with Dean today as he is almost like a cheeky little boy who is always upto mischief. It always seems such along time between your visits to our screens. I know that we are so very, very lucky to have you doing your videos and that you must think us greedy for wanting more of you, but you have a style like no other.
