Just A Note

Hi guys, I wasn't quite sure about posting this one as I wasn't completely happy with how it came out.  I have decided to let you be judge and jury on it (be honest but be kind, I have very thin skin!)  I have used the Parisian dies for this, but rather than having them hold hands, I decided to have them hug their background colour square.  The edges of the die all tuck behind the green squares so nicely, I haven't even glued or taped them in place.  Using the small fleur de lis die from another set, I used it as an accent for the centres of all the squares.  The sentiment was stamped and cut out with one of the Parisian accent dies, then I cut two more, one in turquoise and one in olive card.  Those two were cut in half and layered behind the original by just mounting them outward a bit each time and taping them in place on the back.  I cut two Parisian border die pieces and used them on the sides of the card and laced the frilly edged ribbon through them as a holder for my bow.  I added a button and some twine for the centre of the bow (as I always feel they look naked otherwise!).  Okay, what's the verdict, what would you think if you received this one in the post?  All for now, Sue x

    I was just away to rest when I spotted your post for today, so decided I would comment early for a change.
    I'm sorry Sue, even though you have used one of my top ten die sets and in a very clever way I might add, I am not taken with the colour combo or the addition of the bow on this card. It could be that the camera hasn't translated the colours correctly and if that is the case, then please accept my apologies and ignore my negative comments.

    I think maybe that the you could have left the borders from the sides but the main design is beautiful and I would love to have received this card in the post

    I think it is really great. The way you have used layered patterns and repeated them makes it almost like Islamic art found in architecture. Another hit as far as I am concerned. If I received it in the post I would think that I had been a very good girl! Vee x

    Love the layout of the card and the way the dies have been used. Just not too sure about the colour of the ribbon but this may be the way it translates in the photo. But would certainly be delighted if i received a card this fab in the post.

    I love the Parisian accent dies, this is one of my top dies. I dont think I would have put the finishing touchers down the sides, will have a go at doing it without them quite like the colours would never have put them together

    I would to receive this card sue, it reminds me of moorish architecture. The only thing I am not sure about is the colour of the ribbon, although I think the colours of the card are not coming through properly on my PC. Looking forward to next weeks shows. All the best, Edwina

    Hi Sue i would say what a unsual card unfortunatly on the site the background colour looks black so it seems like the card is turquise white and black and you have stuck a bottle green bow on it (see where the unsual comes from) lol

    I'd like it if i received it in the post , as it's the thought that counts, maybe i'd have used a different coloured ribbon? white or turquoise? maybe white would have given it a wintery feel?

    I love the card apart from the ribbon but that may be due to the fact that the background looks black and not olive. I don't like the green ribbon on it as it does look out of place but that may be due to the fact that the olive looks black in the photo.

    Another cracking card Sue - only thing I am not sure about is the bow colour but that might be the photograph as I know sometimes what I look at and what the pic looks like is quite different with some colours but I would definately enjoy receiving it.

    I like the colours and composition Sue, but feel perhaps the bow unbalances it all a bit. Perhaps a flatter border instead would work!!
    Even so Sue I would still love to receive a card like this in the post as it shows the artists personality and that they have taken so much care in the making!!

    Hi Sue, love what you have done with the dies for the squares, maybe you could have left off the two strips at the sides to emphasize the middle of the card more - love the turquoise and white - but not that taken with the olive!! But still a lovely card - Kay x

    It's difficult when you ask for opinions isn't it? I do like the colours you've chosen for the card, love all the die-cuts etc. but am not keen on the ribbon bow, neither the colour nor the style, sorry. I would be very happy to receive it in the post though - without the ribbon :) I do love the way you use the dies in such different ways.

    Hi Sue i like the card but i think maybe its the colours i'm not so keen on or maybe the middle section is a bit too busy?? like you i am unsure but its still a lovely card and wouldnt say no if it was posted thru my letterbox!!

    Well I would be thrilled to receive it! Maybe a wee bit too fussy...perhaps a softer edging on the sides? And I'm not sure about the colour of the ribbon..but hey. I'd still be excited for it to drop on my doormat!

    This card is very beautifully composed - I think it is stunning and the colours are lovely - the only thing I would say is because the dies are so intricate and demand the limelight - the card may have deserved a smaller bow or a not so central a bow so as not to detract from the beautiful composition of the dies - I adore the edgings. I hope we are always kind Sue cos a generous spirit always deserves to be treated with kindness and respect.

    I like how the dies sit together, but not sure about colour combo, and as others have mentioned I did not like the colour of the ribbon ( the colour of the ribbon is good, I have it, ) but not with this card. But have to say any card made by yourself would be welcome through my letter box.

    Hi Sue, I think you have spent lots of time cutting out all the components and i love the layout and colour combo! I'm not so keen on the chosen colour of the ribbon with this card, however,i would still cherish one of your originals if i'm lucky to receive one!! See you on C&C in 2days.

    Honestly if I received this card in the post I would think a very clever lady had made it but if I am totally honest, I am not too keen on the colour combo or the bow. Just my opinion & the colours may not have translated too well. I still love what you do though. Ann W

    Sue, I'd be so thrilled to receive a card from you, I wouldn't DREAM of seeking to find fault with it! I think what is happening here is that because they're dark on the screen the eye assumes that those squares are black and then the brain wonders why the ribbon is green. But when you focus carefully on the squares being olive green the then whole thing becomes a perfectly lovely Sue Wilson creation!

    I like the layout and the dies and your hugging technique. I'm not, however, crazy about the color combo...but that is strickly a matter of personal taste, I'm not a fan of olive green. I still think that your cards are amazing.

    Whilst I like the way you have used the dies Sue I don't particularly like the ribbon bow but it may just be the way the colours have translated in the photo. In saying all this though if I was to receive such a card I would be delighted!!

    A Sue Wilson creation popping through my letter box would be an honour and treasured. My honest thoughts are, I think the dark green card looks black in the photo, therefore makes the ribbon look out of place. Maybe would have been better if the ribbon and card were nearer in shade.     I really love the layout and design of this card, I probably wouldnt have chosen the turquoise and olive, but that kindof makes it interesting as its a personal preference & I can try and visualise other combinations. If I got this through the post I would be stunned!!!

    I love the fussy pattern, Lots to look at on this card. I am just getting into all this tucking and layering of spellbinders. so many combinations. I just bought labels 22 so now even more to mix.

    I love teal and I love the olive ribbon, Im not so keen on them together and I find the the card a bit to complex, but Im sure many others would love it as it is a card made with talent and love, it wouldnt do for us all to like the same thing xx
