Owl Always Be There For You

Hello crafters!  I started with this sultry background for the owl card.  I selected a piece of black card and used Midnight Blue and Aqua Lagoon pixie powders all over it.  I was quite heavy handed as I wanted it to be very intense with colour.  Next I cut the tree stump from the Moonlit Owl set three times out of tan card.  I inked them with Vintage Photo distress ink to deepen the colour too.  I cut the root section off of two of them, then stacked them to look like a larger tree.  I cut several of the branches from both the Moonlit Owl and the Wise Old Owl die set and inked the branches with Vintage Photo and the leaves with Forest Moss.  I added the branches across the areas where the stumps were connected to hide the lines.  I cut the moon out of black gloss card and glued it in the upper corner with owl in white coming across it.  I added the sentiment in white to the lower corner and cut several and stacked them before gluing them in place.  The card was completed with white and black mats and layers.  The finished dimensions are  7 1/4"  x  7 1/2" in size.  All for now. Sue x

  2. Hi Sue. A powerful sultry sample to start the week, I read a bedtime story to my granddaughter Saturday evening about an owl that could only 'Twi't and was trying to find a friend owl that could 'T'woo' at the very back of the book it explains it takes 2 owls to sing the 'Twi't T'woo. I meant to Google the facts as the set of books I read from had the meaning behind the story's - hmmm I must research this lol. Hope you have a great day designing and experimenting xxx

    1. Yes it's true. A female calls its male breaking up the t'wit t'woo call. And I thought I was just gullible, but there again would a child's book give false wildlife info, obviously not, I'm happy 'our owl' found her soul mate in the story.

    Hello Sue and all.
Again it's taken ages to find our blog this morning and I'm hoping my PC will behave better tomorrow.
Having now found today's offering it is worth the wait as it is beautiful. Owls are generally not on my list of 'wants' but I may change that. I really love the background too.

Hope to be here again tomorrow.
    Hugs.

  17. Morning Sue and everyone, a very striking card indeed. I still need blue pixie powders lol. I do like these dies but not sure I would get my use out of them. I need to make more cards to what I like rather than what people want hahaha. Hugs Donna x
Ps. My favourite is the big owl x

  18. Hi Sue, Pat L above has stolen my word lol. My first thought was how atmospheric is this card. Love the deep blue sky which shows the black moon and lovely white owl up to perfection. Clever work with the tree stump, who else but you would have thought of turning it into a whole tree.

  28. Hi Sue,
I collect owls so do love this card. Have made a birthday card for my friend but have used your larger owl as it's the only one that I possess.
Like the way you have made the tree.

  29. This is an awesome card. Love the depth you created with the pixies. Your dark and light areas compliment the design. Clever of you to make a tall tree from your tree trunk. By the way, your tree trunk would make a good nest for your flamingos depending on the size differences between the birds and the tree trunk. Unfortunately, I don't have this tree trunk die or I would have used it on a January sample. Thank you for sharing. Hugs
