Best Wishes

Hello crafters!  I have pulled out the vellum for today's card!  I cut the Belgian Background out of Iris card and backed it in white to begin.  I cut the background into three equal strips, added mounting foam and attached them to another piece of white card with small gaps between the sections.  Next I covered the entire background with a piece of vellum cut to the same size to soften it.  It gives you some lovely detail in the background without over powering everything. Next I cut a white on white Zurich die and removed the centre to create a frame and added foam to the back  I cut the  Triple Line Best Wishes die out of white card.  I used the negative piece and backed it with Iris card.  I added a small piece of vellum over the sentiment before placing the Zurich die over it.  I added a floral embellishment of a rolled felt flower, white tulle and some Lace Edged Leaves to the left side of the focal element.  White and Iris mats were added to complete the card.  The finished dimensions are 6 1/2" x  8" in size.  All for now, Sue x

  1. Lovely card Sue, gorgeous.
Back to work today, after 2 weeks leave, it's flown over.
Elaine, my best wishes to Andrew fir his appointment today, I hope it all goes as planned.
Julie, although you have made your decision it may still be a good idea to talk to someone who has had the op, they can help allay your fears. My friend had radical mastectomy reconstruction after breast cancer treatment and she does this with people facing the surgery.
Big caring hugs to Tina and Mick, Tracey, Wheeley, Lorraine and all who are sad, poorly or just need a hug. Thinking of our missing friends.

  5. Morning Sue and all Wilsonettes, a truly stunning card today, love the idea of the vellum on it, it makes it so soft looking and the felt flower, oh I wished I could make them like this.

Well what do you think of Team GB then, we are 2nd in the medals table at the moment with the USA top, what talent we have from our own little island, it is an amazing achievement when you think of the size of USA and Japan compared to us. Those competitors deserve every accolade they can get, but not forgetting the people in the background, the coaches and mentors who are behind them and their family and friends who are with them 24x7, brilliant result to everyone.

I have ordered my tiny dustpan and brush from Julia Watts, so that is sorted thank you to everyone for the advice.

Good luck for today Elaine and Andrew, hope things go well.

Thanks for the advice Wheeleybin, will see what they want to do regarding the golf, hubby said yesterday that they might go local to here and I go to AP with my d-I-l.

Thinking of everyone, Tina, Mick, Tracey, Lorraine and anyone else who needs a hug.

Stay safe, healthy and happy, hugs June Smith xxx

  22. Lovely card Sue. Love the use of vellum. It looks great as an overlay.

I've been meaning to try colouring vellum with my colour cloud inks. I have a large stash of heavyweight vellum from my parchment-craft days. Can't see well enough to do traditional parchment work now so I gave my tools away. Kept hold of a load of vellum though because I love using it.

    Have a good day all.

  23. Morning Sue. A beautiful card made with the vellum, it just softens the background and if you were making a christmas card it would give it a frosty look to it. The felt flower is gorgeous, you have just reminded me i bought the wedding pack and its sitting in the draw so i think i will be making some of these today as its looking like it could be a beautiful day, so a little crafting in the garden.

  77. Good afternoon lovely Sue and her crafty crew!

What a stunning card to begin the week, I love everything about it particularly the use of the vellum to soften the background die....one of my favourite techniques of yours....doesn't it showcase the Belgian collection beautifully? Whilst I am a very lucky bunny having all of your previous release....almost....apart from the Belgian collection sadly:-(, however, surely this design can be adapted to the Swiss collection perhaps ......Love the felt flower, is there a tutorial available on how to achieve this because I would love to recreate one, they are so tactile.
Many apologies for my rude absence, for once I can't blame it on my precarious health, instead I have been superglued to the Olympics, revelling in our successes:-) I stayed up....with difficulty it has to be said....to watch Andy win the tennis gold medal, I found the match excruciating to watch and had to take a breather a few times such was my desperation to see him win. All evening I planned to go on the blog as is my usual routine but what with the gymnastics, the cycling and Andy I was sadly indisposed. I feel really guilty about neglecting my blog duties but sport is my second most favourite pastime to Cardmaking and I really want to cheer on the Brits....and Usain Bolt of course:-) Hence then my early visit today, thought I would pop by before I dried my hair and deposited myself on the sofa to watch last nights athletics and my man Usain....
I bet a lot has been happening in my absence, I do see my old foe Yvonne is absent, but I do believe that she had a busy schedule over the weekend and will no doubt fill us in with when she has recovered.
June, congrats on your fortunate win, hope you enjoy your goodies, What day will you be going to Ally Pally? Maybe we could have a Wilsonette get together:-)
Elaine, good luck to Andrew today, I hope all goes well.....and that you had some sleep last night too.
Tracy, how are you sweetie? Don't feel pressured into returning to work, you've had such a lot to contend with I am sure they would be sympathetic. Yvonne keeps challenging me to actually make a card with all my recent purchases, maybe we should both take up the challenge....I'm like you though, I keep buying even though I'm not actually creating:-)
Pam, hope those hands heal, plenty of good advice about you tackling the issue though, good luck with it
Lorraine, sorry to hear that you have had a flare up, it must be so frustrating for you especially when Mr goes AWOL:-) you need to keep him on a tighter leash or invest in a tracking device!
Wheely, you've had a real tough time of it lately, my heart goes out to you, I was hoping that getting the extra care would take the pressure off and reduce the attacks, maybe you just need to settle in to the new routine? Hope you get somewhere with your attempts to change the mind of the hospital that offers you the treatment, you deserve a break.
Big hugs to all my blog buddiesxxx

I canny believe that'll be a year that I've been off I dunno where the year has gone!!! Last year I was dreading the treatments but now I've been there and through the other side!!
