Hello there bloggers! I have a silver and white card and a gold and cream card for you today. First up is the Noel card. I started by embossing a piece of coconut white card using the Frosty Swirls embossing folder for some lovely texture. I ran a line of dries clear glue around the edge of it and coated it with Luna Silver mica flakes and allowed it to dry. To create my focal element, I pulled out an old die called Fleur de Lis Square and cut it twice, once in silver and once in white card. I off set them with mounting foam between them in the centre of my background and added some pearls as accents. I cut the Framed Noel die in vintage silver card and added mounting foam behind the lettering to raise it for dimension. I mounted it in the centre so the white die cut showed through it. Finishing the card was a white pierced mat, a thin silver mat and a final white mat layer. Super simple! The finished dimensions are 7 1/2" x 7 1/2" in size. Scroll down to see card number two.
Card number two is gold and cream (milk coloured card) and a touch of black for an elegant look. On milk card, I stamped the signpost from the Justrite stamp set called Signs of Christmas in black Archival ink. Using the Tranquil Moments die, I cut it out and matted it with gold card. I tore two pieces of milk card, distressed them further with my scissors blade edge. I used these to mat around my focal element then added a gold mat layer with a very thin black mat to set it off. I cut a gold Mosaic Poinsettia and backed it with a solid black Classic Poinsettia. I made two and offset them to create a fuller flower and accented it with a black pearl in the centre. I seated my flower on a chalk coloured seam binding messy bow and some gold tulle. I made two stick pins to match. The card was then completed with a milk mat which I paper pierced, a thin black mat and a final milk coloured mat. The finished dimensions are 7" x 8" in size. All for now, Sue x

I have had a go at blogging everyday for December and I take my hat off to you Sue , it's hard work, but I have been enjoying it, it has given me a reason to get up each day and for me that's huge, so thank you Sue for your time but mainly for your inspiration but also for giving me the amazing tools (your dies) to enable me to create! Hi Sue. Oh goody, it's a Double Day: ))
ReplyDeleteTwo very different cards, both beautiful. I would hate to have to choose, I love them both. I can't explain why but the first thing that popped into my head was that the second one reminds me of a boxed present being opened. I did say that I couldn't explain why!

Hi Sue and all Particraft friends.
ReplyDeleteI love double days as much as video tutorial days, you give our brains a good ol jolt, which is what is needed as far as im concerned as im wilting big time (wish I was one of your pointsettia flowers) always pretty and fresh ! I cant decide which is my favourite but if I was asked to replicate one it would be the first as my attempt of creating the shabby chic border would end up looking like an old piece of card picked out of a shredding machine when its caught in the blade, a crumpled mess !
Im so glad you have blogged every day Sandra, your cards are amazing and like our Sue's fill me with new inspiration.
Cant remember the last time I looked back at the days comments as Ive been manic, but must look back at yesterday to see what our 'adopted' brave Robbie has been up to lol.
So I'll send love to you Sue and all our friends here today.
Love you and gentle hugs.
Lancashire Steph xx
Good morning Sue
ReplyDeleteTwo beautiful but very different cards this morning you always amaze me with your ideas. I forget about my old dies and don't use them (it's all your fault for designing beautiful dies lol). My torn edges look nothing like yours I even use a special ruler designed for torn edges lol. I can't choose a favourite because each has its own beauty.
Nearly there Cheryl sending a hug.
Hugs x

Hi, Sue and fellow Wilsonettes, I too need to check back over the daily comments to see what I've missed.
ReplyDeleteI also enjoy Double Day and the video days and think that today's offerings are both very different looking C. Cards with a modern twist.
I think of the two, the second one is probably my favourite, by a slight margin. I have this stamp but have yet to use it.
Thanks, Sue for all your wonderful inspiration, as always.
Have a good day all and keep safe and warm.
Hugs, Angela in S. Wales ( at least the rain has stopped for now ) Xx

ReplyDeleteTwo lovely seasonal cards really like the festive sparkle on the first card, the flakes really twinkle and as always love the poinsettia.
Really chilly this morning so have added some extra layers as I am off to see my little grandson singing in the school choir in the town centre, just could not miss this.
Hugs to warm everyone a little.

Two lovely cards Sue with lots of detail on both. Anne x
ReplyDeleteMorning Sue, love Fridays when we get two cards, couldn't choose if I had to as they are both amazing. I really must make some stick pins, I have no excuse as I have all the ingredients. I am beginning to think that as you get older, the hours get shorter so you can't do as much. That's my excuse anyway.
ReplyDeleteLove Rosemarie xx
Wonderful creations - I love the way you have done the flower in the second card
ReplyDeletemorning Sue
ReplyDeleteDouble Days come around so quickly don't they! If I had to choose it would have to be no1. Only because of your distressing (lovely as it is when you do it) I still cannot get on with it. Your focal points are really beautiful and I've used your Noel die this season and it always looks beautiful. I've used it in red or green with a white shadow.
Well have to get a wriggle on this morning as it's baking the last two Christmas Cakes today and then flaked out for the rest of the day. Will be a good day to test my new Tens machine.
To all under the weather hoping you all feel better soon. To everyone please take care if venturing out and stay safe. We are forecast some of that white stuff for today.
See you tomorrow.

ReplyDeleteHi Sue,
ReplyDeleteI love twofers! Today's cards are lovely but my favourite is the first one - by a short head! Will have a go using the Union Square die with the Noel one! Still got a few to make but should finish tomorrow! Well that's the plan!
Anne - thank you. I had a super day with Annabelle and had the aching feet to prove it! She got a new dress for a party tonight - well the bottom half is actually what we used to call a divided skirt! Not so long as culottes but it looked lovely with opaque tights and ballet pumps! Fashionable if you are 15! I used to wear something similar to play hockey!!
Sending hugs to all today - keep warm in this very chilly weather.
Steph - hope you managing to keep warm.
Norah - a big Friday hug! x

ReplyDeleteHi Sue. I loved the frosty swirls embossing on the first card but I have to admit that the second one really won my heart. I would love to be able to create something even half as good as that one. The colours are delightful and I love the distressed layers. The gold and black poinsettia is a show stopper and coupled with the fancy bow and the pins makes it a show stopper. As always, thanks so much for sharing with us. x

Norah - hope you are feeling stronger.
Love to all xx
Hi Sue
ReplyDeleteYour cards are always beatiful!
I have a suggestion.
I have been trying to get a grande embossing die set. The spellbinder square and rectangle with the inverted corner .I have seen it on several of your cards.
I have been informed that they have been discontinued. I wondered if you would had any plans to design an alternative frame set may be with decorative panels/ borders like your Spanish dies but bigger?
The supplier that I have asked about the spellbinders says they have had lots of requests for the one with the corners cut out in a curved way .just thought I would ask!
2 great cards for your double day as always. Thanks sue! Love

ReplyDeleteWhat awesome cards. They are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteHello Sue
ReplyDeleteI love both the cards but the first one has to be my favourite as I have both the Noel die and the embossing folder. My friends, to whom I have personally given cards to, have been so impressed with their masterpieces made with the Noel die! I have never received so many compliments, which of course has pleased me very much so thanks to you as well, Sue, for your wonderful Noel design!
The cards were in cream, rich ruby red with a tiny touch of holly in one corner, quite simple but they went down well!
Have a good weekend everybody.

Two lovely cards. If I had to choose a favourite the first one just edges it for me, though perhaps that's because I've got the Noel die. The embossing folder looks amazing. Really like your distressing on the second card - mine looks more like butchery!

Both are beautiful cards...love the soft look of the torn edges but have a bit of a time trying to replicate how you do it.
