Vintage Rose

Happy Weekend all!  Another Justrite rose sample today.  I started with some card from my stash (can't really describe the colour except for a pinkish lilac maybe) and paired it with milk coloured card.  Starting from the background, I used the new Baroque mask and inked the mask with Clear Perfect Medium and carefully laid it on top of my card and letter pressed it through my GC to transfer the ink to the card.  I heat embossed it with our new Ivory embossing powder.  I love this as it matches our milk card so nicely!  I have never been able to find ivory embossing powder before so I am chuffed to bits to have this in our line now.  I decided to create a frame for my rose and background by using the Grand Square dies.  I picked a couple of sizes and used the in between sizes to create an embossed design into the frame.  I think that this is easier to do if you emboss first, remove the centre dies, then cut (it keeps that problem with the card coming out of the dies from happening). I added mounting foam to the frame and added it over my letter pressed background.  Next I stamped the Vintage Rose by Justrite using a Coffee Archival ink pad.  I coloured it with Distress Markers and cut it out with the matching die.  I stamped it again and coloured just the rose and fussy cut it to add to the original with mounting foam.  I decided to add a bit of a decorative backing to it so I cut one of my California Collection Decorative Frames with the centre cut out in the same pinkish card and underneath that I added a Gold element Four die cut out of milk card.  I liked the way these two layered up.  I tied a messy bow out of chalk seam binding and added a satin flower with a pearl centre from my stash.  Finished dimensions are 8" x 8" in size.

Time to announce the winner of the card giveaway.  This week's winner is:

Margarita Lady!!

Congratulations! Please email me at americansue1@gmail.com  to confirm your address and claim your prize.  All for now, Sue x

  12. Hi sue. A beautiful card and the colours are lovely together. Love the rose stamp and must try and get my hands on the new powder. Got your rose dies yesterday and its much less fussy doing them with the dies than the stamps and you can change them to suit yourself. So a big thank you from me to you. Have a great weekend what ever you are doing. Congrats to the card winner.

  13. GM Sue - great colouring and now you say, yes I've never seen ivory EP come to think of it! Love that ribbon flower - did you make it? if so how?

Well today is show day - I am entering 5 classes in our local show - Mday card/painting/handmade jewellery/scrapbooking page and the big one - a sponsored class - different items relating to M Day any technique any quantity - it will be interesting to see what happens - will let you know on tomorrows blog entry - thanks for the good luck messages - appreciated - although divine intervention might also be required me thinks! Still, it's the fun of entering/taking part really and supporting local shows - otherwise they would die out and that would be a real shame. Off to make myself look presentable and pack my entries - Happy crafty weekend all

    Well done, Margarita Lady.
Did anyone find a way of voting for Nick for non-facebook people? However, after reading Annie's post, looks like he can't receive the prize anyway. What a terrible shame.

Cameeli hope your knee is feeling a little easier today, soft tissue injuries can take so much longer to heal than bone, so give it TLC and rest (if you can)
I love the colours used on your card today Sue, as mentioned, just the colour of Mr Wippey, yum : ) oh I cant wait to get my A4 cutting machine as the frame on this card makes everything else stand out. Im trying to catch up with Phils show from yesterday - I think as he gives SO many good ideas and inspiration, Im so pleased he is part of the team now (good to look at too) lol : )
Its a lovely spring like day up North, Im hoping it will give me the 'umph' to get cracking with some more Spring like Easter cards for market tomorrow as those pesky flakes have been upto no good again... I can hear you sniggering from that cupboard, yeah, Im out to getcha today so that'll knock ya silver snigger right out of ya pesky guilding pot !
I think its envy as Ive not got em together with the adhesive paper or introduced them to an embossing folder yet and until they find manners, then they wont !
So my day is an Easter card day, packing my basket's and buying a pretty plant to highlight my basket of MD cards.
Sending much love and as many hugs as you need today to help you through today, especially our special friends that are sad and not well.
    Love you.

I am sure most of us could send him an envelope with a few toppers, die cuts, papers etc. Things we may not love as much from a kit, or a practice cut etc. I know I managed to make up a box for a friend very easily from my stash.

  109. Good morning Sue and fellow Wilsonettes,
Oh Sue, please can we have this as next Wednesdays card giveaway, it is so beautiful and i bet there is a lot of us wishing the same thing its just i'm the cheeky one in the group. The colours and differing styles that you use is just fantastic. Sue i think you should have a word in Create and Crafts ear about what Nick is trying to do. He spends enough time and money with them and supports their shows at all the intervals that he can. Surely what he is doing is a great thing bringing the love of craft to children that don't have that luxury. I know that i certainly have things that could support his efforts.
Congratulations to Margarita on winning this weeks prize card, i hope you enjoy it as much as the other Wednesday winners do. I know that it is never far away from their eyes when crafting.
Clare, knock them dead at the show flower, show them what real crafting is all about. It's about diversity, textures, pleasing to the eye and talent, so i'm routing for you winning.
You having words with those little terrors called gilding flakes again Steph? You show them whose boss but i fear they will always be some flighty ones that want to explore the house because they don't realise that there are enemies out there to get them. "Hoover" it's time to come out. I think this is what you must threaten them with to get them to toe the line and either stay in their box or on a glued surface.
Thank you girls on the good wishes as i was and still cannot believe that i won as i was not over endowed in the luck department as we all know. I was having a real hard day and it just brighten me up. Fighting with my old friends' daughters wedding invites today as she has finally decided after doing about 15-16 different types she has decided on yet another. huuuuuuh. Done all the G.C work as my shoulders are telling me no more, so just have them to put together now...all 5 layers and motorbike and flowers along with the wedding invitation wording. Yes you read right, motorbike and sunflowers on the front to encorporate her love of gardening and his motorbike. It was going to be music and a horseshoe for her music and his horse passion. It changed to cowboy boots and a wheelbarrow. It is just me that can't understand where elegance and simplicity went where wedding invites were concerned. I'm all for individuality, but this is taking it a bit much. Oh well guess there is no accounting for taste. See you all tomorrow hopefully, take care everyone.
    Love and crafty hugs

  111. Sue I think you have at least set me a big challenge. Your card is so beautiful and its the embossed background which my eyes immediately alighted on!! I really must have a go at trying to do that technique but feel a bit fearful it will come out nothing like yours. Anyway thank you for the idea and will let you know what happens ! Hugs Maureen

  127. Hi Sue,
    Hi Everyone,
Started this at 11 am! WiFi gone mad today!
First of all , love the card today Sue, the colours are so very pretty. EP just gone to top of wish list! The grand square dies are also on it! Have your dies so that is something! Love the focal point - that stamp another favourite. Thank you!
Congratulations Margarita ! You will love your very own Wow.
Norah been in fits about the wedding cards! Was asked to do some for a friend's daughter but mine were too traditional - when Wedding Invitation came it had wellie boots and an umbrella on the front! I would never have thought of that - apparently they met in the rain!
Clare hope you have a lovely day at the Show and that you win a Prize.
Beryl agree would be good to help Nick! Almost like a Shoe Boxes for Africa type thing - only would maybe need coordination from someone .
Brenda been thinking about your grandson , trust he on the mend!
Pam, do hope you do something nice this weekend? X
    Love to all, Myra

Such a lovely looking card, I love the classy colour combo. This combo brings out such peaceful calmness in me, the chalky look of baby pink with creamy ivory makes for a sublime, beautiful card, which I liken to the baby blues and whites of chalky wedgewood. Hugs, Vick xxx
